The last piece of the planning puzzle has been achieved for this mixed use development in the heart of Bristol City Centre. The building originally consisted of a range of use classes – Bar, Comedy Club and Offices. Union Architecture, with the assistance of CSJ Planning (http://www.csj-planning.co.uk/) have now achieved 3 planning approvals on this project. Ultimately the scheme will consist of 53 apartments with a restaurant at ground floor.
Union led the meetings and site visits with Bristol Council Planning in order to develop a scheme for the upgrade of the main Baldwin Street & Telephone Exchange elevations. Due to the sites location within the City and Queens Square conservation area a particularly sympathetic design was required. After much negotiation, various sample submissions and visualisations, a positive decision was reached, allowing the construction works to progress in line with the agreed programme.
