Building Regulations Part M change

From the 1st October 2015 there will be a new Building Regulations part M to contend with. Whilst the technical implications of the changes have been under consideration for many months in the various draft documents what hasn’t been fully appreciated is the impact the change might have on the planning process. With the introduction of 3 categories in residential development, the planning authority must now be consulted to advise on what mix or number is required for each category type in a development. Union Architecture, in discussion with consultant colleagues, E3 Cube (Access Auditors), are reviewing all current projects to check compliance and also advising clients with historic planning approvals that will now need to comply.
