Less is…?

With a shortage of housing in major cities developers and designers are often presented with the question of how to deliver a project which incorporates affordable units that are both livable and marketable.

One such project is the recently completed Carmel Place by nArchitects in New York. Made up of 55 ‘micro’ units which range in size from 273 to 360 square feet the development is perhaps more a kin to a student accommodation than  apartments.

Efficient floor plans and inventive in built furniture solutions help transform unit interiors from rooms into homes however it is arguably the focus on integrating meaningful shared amenities which will ensure the success of the scheme.
